One hour off Sihanoukville, Koh Rong Island is one of the most popular tourism islands in Cambodia. It is famed for its sandy coves and a 78 sq-km interior of dense jungle terrain and waterfalls. It encompasses 43 km of pristine beach front. The offshore coral reefs are a diver’s dream, with abundant marine life and fluorescent plankton.
The island fits the description of a tropical hideaway so much that a film production company set up a permanent base on Soksan Beach to film footage for tropical paradise themed films and programmes, including the reality TV show Survivor. Visitors can indulge in diving, snorkelling, kayaking, mountain biking, trekking the interior trails and boat trips to outer islands.
